Frequently Asked Questions

What sets you apart from other companies?
We have provided superior, reliable service at an affordable rate 365 days a year for over 22 years, having twice been voted Best of Boston!  We offer the best value for the longest dog walk, our cat sitting is closer to cat cuddling, and our overnight house sitting is the next best thing for your dog other than you cancelling your trip altogether!

 What areas do you service?
We offer dog walking and cat sitting in Boston's Back Bay & Beacon Hill neighborhoods, as well as cat sitting in the West End & South End.

Why don't you walk dogs in the South End or Fenway, it's so close!
We are a small business in every sense; we have a small team and we service a small area.  I have a dependable group of trustworthy animal lovers.  We stay focused on a walkable geographic footprint.  I believe in keeping costs low, keeping doggy exercise up, and never sacrificing quality, so we don't drive and we respect our boundaries!

Do you work on nights & weekends?
Absolutely!  A Boston Pet Sitter is always around if you need to work late during the week or get some errands done on the weekend.  I keep my pricing simple; you'll pay the same flat rate for each and every one of your visits, with the rare holiday surcharge to reward my pet sitters.

So you work on holidays, too?

We are a full-time pet sitting company, so if the day ends in -y, then we work!  Our $5 holiday surcharge may also be applied to the day before or after major holidays, but please book early!

How long are your dog walks?
Our daily group walks last 45-60 minutes, allowing for a healthy dose of fresh air, exercise, socialization, and doggy business.  Our evening & weekend solo walks are 30-45 minutes.  We also accomodate walk times in the event of severe weather.

What can you tell me about your cat sitting?
Our cat visits are 20-30 minutes and include lots of snuggles and playtime for the willing kitty, plus litter cleaning and a food & water change. During your initial registration, we will discuss how to customize our visits so that your cat enjoys their time with us, whether it be with a favorite toy, relaxing on a favorite couch, or just giving them alone time in a favorite hiding spot!

What overnight services do you offer?
If you want the peace of mind of keeping your dog in familiar surroundings, we are thrilled to offer house sitting for our regular clients!  We stay in your home with your dog and uphold daily routines, including all walks and feeding, as well as household safety measures such as bringing in mail or rotating lights and blinds.  This is a great alternative to imposing on your neighbors or dropping your doggy at a kennel!

 Do you administer medications?
Yes, we are happy to provide topical, oral, or hypodermic medications at no additional cost!  We have a wide range of experience with both canine & feline medications.

Will you leave a note about how my dog did?
A great source of pride here at BPS is our daily journal of the adventures of your little loved ones.  In addition to indicating "restroom procedures," our daily notes may cover the destination of the walk, the names of your dog's other friends, and any interesting wildlife (horses, fowl, tourists...).  This journal is also how we report anything unusual with your dog's health or habits, and it helps us to be accountable for the consistent timing of our walks.
